The Southeast Raleigh Table (SER\T) has launched a generosity campaign to pay for the work we believe God is leading our faith community to undertake.
After beginning in the chapel of Edenton Street United Methodist Church and moving to four locations in seven years, SER\T made a long-term commitment to occupy a restored church building in the heart of the 27601 neighborhood.
“Occupy” is such a sterile term. “Dream” is more apt. We’re building a community where race is always on the table so we can be healed and energized for the work of redemptive love. We’re inaugurating jubilee, a biblical principle of generosity towards each other and our neighbors. We’re organizing for justice to roll down like waters in southeast Raleigh.
SER\T provides a space for us to close our eyes and open our hearts to a God who has never failed us. We won’t offend God by asking for too little.
God’s love compels us to do more.
To live into our dreams, we also must tend to the mundane: rent, utilities, maintenance. Our generosity campaign will ensure that the necessary responsibilities are covered while we increase our capacity to pursue audacious expressions of God’s goodness.
This generosity campaign invites those who walk together to give together. Like manna in the wilderness, like the five loaves and two fish, God will make a way. We invite you to open your heart to what your part is.
Giving to support God’s work is an act of worship. It is an act of faith that what we give will be enough. It is a declaration of hope, that our vision of beloved community, equity, and justice become real in our lifetime. Nothing is too wonderful for God!
